About me

I am an ICF Accredited Coach and a Certified Trainer in Nonviolent Communication.

I coach because I love to allow myself to resonate with the experience of another person and ask probing questions to free them to find their own path.

My greatest joy as a coach is when my client has a revelation which enables them to let go of a pattern which has been holding them back for years.

I drive trucks.  I drive trucks because it is a poke in the eye for the patriarchy; and because it is a convenient way to earn a living which gives me flexibility and freedom; and because it suits my introverted nature; and because I love to gain and practise mastery of a practical skill.  None of these motivations is any stronger than the others, they coexist equally.

I am a Quaker.  This means to me that I am committed to nonviolence in all its forms, within the self, within society, within the world.  I believe in the unity of all creation and in the healing power of silence.  My experience of the Quaker Business Method has shown me that, given time, patience, deep intention, and love, it is possible to make collective decisions without domination.

I live by the sea.  I cannot not live by the sea.  I walk by it, row on it, swim in it (in the summer), and sit staring at it whenever I can.

I am infinitely curious.  I am curious about people, about ideas, about how people lived in the past and live in the present.  I am always reading something.  It is rarely fiction.  I do several courses a year – at the time of writing Arabic, constellations, marketing.
